Authentication
Every piece. Authenticated.
Every watch, handbag and piece of jewellery we sell is authenticated before it is listed. Through hands-on examination, specialist checks and clear documentation, we take care to establish the authenticity of every piece.
We stand behind the authentication of every item we sell.
Our authentication and assessment process
Every piece receives individual attention, with checks tailored to its category, materials and identifying details.
-

01
Record the piece
We photograph each piece and record its identifying details before cleaning or preparation. Serial numbers, hallmarks and other markings, where present, form part of that record.
-

02
Examine and authenticate
Specialists examine each piece using the checks appropriate to its category. Its construction, components and identifying details are assessed against the relevant references.
-

03
Assess its condition
We assess condition using our six-tier grading scale. Photographs and descriptions explain the piece’s condition and signs of wear, helping you understand what to expect.
-

04
Document the details
Each listing identifies the accompanying items and documentation, including original papers, boxes, service records and laboratory reports where available. Applicable Entrupy certificates are linked on the product page.

An Entrupy Verified Business
National Jewellers is an Entrupy Verified Business. In addition to our specialist examination, eligible handbags and small leather goods undergo authentication through Entrupy.
For pieces authenticated by Entrupy, the certificate is linked directly on the product page.
Our commitment to authenticity
Authentication is part of our responsibility for every piece we sell. We stand behind our process, and our team is available to explain the checks completed and the documentation accompanying your purchase.
Questions about your piece
What documentation comes with my purchase?
Each product listing identifies the documentation and accompanying items included with that piece. These may include original papers, service records, laboratory reports or an Entrupy certificate, where applicable. Documentation varies by piece; every item we sell is authenticated.
What happens if a piece turns out not to be authentic?
Tell us, and bring or send us the piece with the written finding. We take it back and refund what you paid, in full. There is no time limit on that.
Can I view a piece before purchasing?
Private viewings are available by appointment in Toronto or Oakville. Take a closer look in person and see if the piece is the right fit for you.
